MMHA Committees

The Montana Mental Health Association's committees are formed to carry out the mission of advocating and educating for mental health. The strength and effectiveness of MMHA is directly a measurement of the vitality of the committees and their ability to carry out the Association's mission and achieve its goals.

 

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is in charge of conducting the affairs of the Board between Board meetings. The scope of this committee includes monitoring goals, and address the Budget, By-Laws, Financial Reports, Internships, Leadership Development, Personnel Supervision, Annual Board Retreat, and Communications, among others.

Public Policy Committee

The purpose of the Policy Committee is to pursue research-based advocacy policies consistent with the Association's goals, values, and principles as well as to develop the Association's Public Policy Platform for each legislative session.

Public Education Committee

The goal of the Public Education Committee is to develop public education programs, conduct training events and obtain and distribute items directed at eliminating the stigma of mental illness, supporting individuals and facilities that offer mental health services, improving treatment and care of persons with mental illnesses and preserving the rights of mental health consumers and their families.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is chaired by the Treasurer and supports all Association fund-raising and development activities. It recommends Financial Policy and the Annual Budget to the Board.

Children's Committee

The Children's Committee develops and recommends activities regarding Children's Mental Health in Montana by liaisoning with Statewide Professional Organizations and related groups working on Children & Family issues. They provide Early Detection Screening Programs and work closely with our other Committees and Affiliate Chapters.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee meets prior to the Annual meeting to present a slate of officers for election. They also select delegates for NMHA. It is chosen by the membership and has seven members, four of whom are members of the Board of Directors (but not the President).

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee creatively expands the MMHA network statewide by 5% annually through membership drives, events and SAA/LAC Coordination.

Communications Committee

The Communication Committee creates innovative ways to communicate Mental Health issues to the Membership, Policy Makers, and the Public to reduce Stigma and raise awareness. They monitor programs and current media coverage to insure accurate reporting.
